Pre-approval of requests for registration of foreign events

If you are a Greek citizen and wish to register a civil status event that occurred abroad or you act as an attorney at law, you can submit an online request for prior approval through the digital platform of the Special Registry Office.

Your documents and details will be checked for completeness and correctness so that you know in advance whether your file is complete. If your request is pre-approved, you will be informed to come to the Special Registry with the original supporting documents, in order to complete the final registration of the civil status event in accordance with the applicable law.

You will need to:

  • register your personal Taxisnet credentials, or identify yourself by email (for citizens who do not hold a Tax Identification Number (AFM)) or register the Plenum codes of the Greek Bar Associations, if you are an attorney at law
  • attach the necessary supporting documents on a case-by-case basis

During the process, you have the opportunity to keep track of the progress of your request, receive notifications of the need to submit additional information and be informed about the progress of the pre-approval.
