You may apply for exemption from fulfilling your military service obligation if you are a father who has sole custody of at least one (1) living child with at least sixty-seven percent (67%) lifetime disability of an unmarried child or one (1) minor child with at least fifty percent (50%) disability who has insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

When to apply:

• If you are eligible for military service: from the date you are invited to enlist until the date you join the Armed Forces. If you apply later, the exemption is granted if you were eligible on the date of enlistment
• if you are a private: at any time after your enlistment
• if you are a conscientious objector/deserter: after your conscientious objection or desertion is terminated
