You can issue a death certificate if you are or were at any time registered in the same household as the deceased.

You will need your personal access codes for Taxisnet.

Deaths that occurred in Greece

If the death occurred in Greece and has been registered with the relevant registry office, you can issue:

• immediately online the extract of the certificate, which was drawn up on or after 08.05.2013.
• through KEP / Municipality / Special Registry Office extracts or complete deeds drawn up before 08.05.2013. In this case, your document will be issued at a later date.

Deaths that took place abroad

If the death took place abroad and has been registered at the Special Registry Office of Athens, you can issue:

• immediately online excerpts from certificates drawn up on or after January 22.01.2018.
• through KEP / Municipality / Special Registry Office, the excerpts or complete death certificates that you are entitled to issue. In this case, your certificate will be issued at a later date.

In any case, the response to your request will be posted in your inbox on gov.gr and will bear the security features of gov.gr.
